When I asked about this mailbox I didn't ask face to face. In fact, I didn't ask at all. I was nervous, so I had my Dad call and ask him for me. He replied, "Nothing too crazy."
"Oh, you mean abstract?" my Dad asked.
At that time I had just painted my mailbox which, I suppose, was abstract. He gave me the go ahead which made me happy, but he didn't say anything about what he wanted on the mailbox, which gave me creative freedom or at least as much creative freedom "nothing too crazy" was.
I went with the basic color scheme (unless using a secondary color is too "crazy") and painted envelopes. It doesn't get much crazier than that. Envelopes. On a mailbox. For something a little different, on the front I painted an American flag stamp because from what I knew this man is very patriotic. He has served in Vietnam War. A stamp, because hey -- it's mailbox.
